December 14, 2009 found me attending the last lecture of my Master of Social Work program. Six LONG yet paradoxically brief years, done. In the blink of an eye the safety net of the academic institution, gone. Freedom at last!
Well, for a minute anyway.
The clock began ticking the same day, counting down the moments until my first student loan payment will come due. On one hand this has me a little freaked out, considering I owe more for school than I am paying for my house, but on the other, the unemployment rate for individuals with Master’s degrees is considerably lower than the rest of the general population. And come to think of it, I’m paying a lot less for both my education and my house than a lot of people, so things could be worse.
And so begins, life in the real world…
Stay tuned!
